History

"Family Agricultural Resource Mongolia" NGO was established in the year 2008 by concerned Mongolians and international advisors in order to improve the livelihoods of rural Mongolian families through capacity building training, establishing and managing new agricultural businesses, vegetable growing cooperatives and implementing food security and environmental stewardship projects. FARM was formed with the assistance, and under the auspices, of parent organization, Joint Christian Services, International.

In 2008 FARM was registered as a Mongolian national NGO and has operated independently of JCS International from that point to the present. FARM currently has 18 staff members across Mongolia (sixin the headquarters in Ulaanbaatar and 12 at the field level). FARM has five Mongolian board members and two volunteer technical advisors from the USA and New Zealand who were selected for their knowledge and experience to guide the organization.

FARM has been implementing Education, Health, Food Security and Livelihoods, Micro-Enterprise Business Development and Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation projects and programs that are providing employment for approximately 2700 households, directly benefiting approximately 11,000 rural Mongolians.

FARM has operated in partnership with the following organizations: Arkhangai, Uvurkhangai, Bayankhongor, Tuv provinces and Ulaanbaatar city of Mongolia, Samaritan’s Purse Australia, “Tearfund” New Zealand, Interact (Swedish), Water for All NGO (Swedish), SIDA (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency), Embassies in Mongolia such as; USA, New Zealand, Canada and Australia and Taiwan Fund for Children and Families and as well as individual donors.
